Fabulous and a close call

Well I have a couple of challenges I want to enter this card in. But one of the challenges closes in about 50 minutes, could I cut it any closer. I was so busy fiddling around with my other cards I suddenly thought, mmmmm whens that challenge end, ohhh 1 hr 20 minutes.
Nothing like a bit of pressure and I love how this turned out.

My Inspiration: Michele Ferguson

What an inspiration she is. I have yet to get where she is but I am happy with what I ended up with. Thank you Michele for your wonderful inspiration.

For the flowers I went for the flowers from the Stampendous set and used the hydrangea white embossed, water coloured with soft blues and purples and die cut. I used two and layered them with some leaves. Added a ton of Wink of Stella.

In this photo the 'f' from fabulous is sticking out a bit but thats only cause the glue was still wet.
I loved the shape Michele embossed into the card front and I decided to try this, first attempt and it worked so I'm chuffed. Added a very fine strip of purple card stock to the edge much like Michele but I went finer as I had kept the purple lighter on the front of the card.
Finished off with the 'Fabulous' die cut sentiment in mirror silver cardstock.

The first challenge is

Flowers stamped and heat embossed and then die embossed on card rather than die cut.

Flowers stamped and Heat embossed, watercoloured, die cut and
embossed die rather than diecut.

Thanks for coming to have a look and I hope you come again soon.

Happy Mothers Day

This is a photo heavy post but you can just go down to the third one of the card and finish there if you like. The other is an extension of my post.
If you have come to check out the JUGS Challenge its the next post down.

Now onto my card.

This is a digital image from Saturated Canary and I've had it for ages. I decided it was perfect for my grandson to give his mummy tomorrow. I had already done one for his sister to give her mum but when I looked at this one I thought ' ahhh perfect' she will get the humour.

Only lightly coloured with copics as it wasn't copic cardstock I printed it on and I didn't want to have the ink spreading. Don't you just love her, like every mum out there. Multi multi tasking.

After colouring I added Glossy accents to the bottle, dummy and the mum's eyes. Thought of glossing up the spillage/up chuck but decided not to get too realistic.

Felt she looked a bit plain so decided to keep trying to use my washi tapes. Two floral ones to represent the flowers for the day, I like what I see but does it work? Too much? Too different?
Finished it all off with an enamel heart up the top.

Mum's Birthday

Now for those who like to listen to me chat. Today is special it's my mum's birthday. Mum is 85 today and I actually don't get to see her today as this is my sisters week with mum and dad. My daughter Jessie went over this morning to give her a big bunch of flowers and my brothers took her out this arvo for a chocolate afternoon tea as a place that specialises in all things chocolate. We got them to eat light for lunch to leave room for the chocolate feast.

Now to share a couple of photos of my wonderful amazing mother, who was there for me for so much heart ache, sorrow and joy. I know I am lucky to have the best mum ever for the last 57 years and now we take it day by day.

Mum and her twin sister Pat at 16 then a publicity shot at 18 as they were amongst the first 'Toni Twins' in Australia.
The photo with both sets of twins as they flew around Australia and mum and one of the other twins being walked into the ballroom.
They were 'Toni Twins' which was a home perm that you could buy at the Chemist and when it went to TV you would be asked which twin has the Toni.
They of course were before TV so they would walk into a room like walking ads!!
It was just for a year but it was like the most exciting and amazing thing that could ever happen as far as they were concerned.
They lead a very hard life and brought up their younger sisters from age 14 being the only breadwinners. I loved when I could hear their stories on life.
Through all they went through they are four sisters that have never fought and talk to each other every week no matter what.

This is a picture of mum and Pat 5 years ago. I was going to
post a recent one of them both, but its not a good one
so I thought I'll leave that till next time.

Just Us Girls Word Week: Butterflies

Hi everyone! I have some really exciting news that I have been sitting on for the last couple of weeks and I cant believe I didn't blab.

I have been invited to be a Guest Designer at Just Us Girls for the month of May.
Here's my first card for the month of May as guest designer over at Just Us Girls!

This week is WORD week and the word is "Butterflies".  I hope you can join in the fun, just click  HERE for all the details and to play along.

I love doing butterflies and decided to combine them with Kraft cardstock.

I know I said awhile ago I would steer clear of kraft and pencil colouring due to the pain it causes my hands but I have seen so many beautiful cards done with pencils on kraft lately, I couldn't resist. When I saw the photo for the challenge it just jumped into my head.

I stamped and white embossed my Hero Art Butterfly using lots of masking to get everything looking how I wanted. I coloured the butterflies with Derwent Coloursoft Pencils using two coloured for each butterfly and the white pencil to help with highlights. I then went over many of the stamped and embossed lines with my  Uni-ball Signo broad white pen to fix lines I had coloured over and added the little white dots on the wings.
I coloured the bodies slightly with grey Copic marker and also added shadows with the grey Copic marker. I removed the mask from the centre of the card and attached the die cut sentiment from Taylored Expressions. The die was layered three times and finished off with a sparkle gem in white as the dot was impossible to layer up.

Don't forget to stop by JUGS and see all the beautiful cards the amazing DT has made for your inspiration for this week's challenge!

Also adding to a couple of challenges:

Thank you so much for coming to visit and I hope you come again soon.

Vellum cards

I have made two cards but first I want to show you what I was playing with today. This is pre coloured vellum and I have been trying it out with my Cuttlebug and the We 'r Memory Keepers 3D embossing folders. There are four different designs here and they come two to a packet.
The back one that looks grey is actually a really pretty shiny silver and does the six sided shape.
The pink has that cracked up look and the blue and green are done with the same weave embossing folder, just one embossed deeper as I had an extra shim in. Looks better in detail but it did split the vellum so too much pressure.
The orange is like a platted weave and I used it for one of the cards I did today. Still need to see how cardstock looks. Really impressed with these but how much use they will get will be another matter as I don't tend to use embossed from of my cards so will see.

Now onto my cards: his first card was quick and easy to do.

I white embossed on vellum. the stamp is a Hero Art one and I love the elegance of it.
Made sure to use my Emboss Buddy, I really slap it down and wipe every area and it pays off. No little flecks anywhere.

I then added Distress Ink to the back of the vellum as using like this it will never dry.
I started out going Spun Sugar, Worn Lipstick and Picked Raspberry (which for some reason always sticks in my head as pickled raspberry, yeah I know, just what everyone wants lol).
But the Spun Sugar was too pale so I move the colours up, eliminated the Spun Sugar and added Abandoned Coral. Much better

Left a bit with no ink on it at the top and this was folded over and the vellum attached behind the card and a few drops of glue behind the heavier bits of white embossing.
Finished off with some different coloured pink enamel dots. No sentiment, fine without.

Now to the one I worked harder on and it all came together just perfect, for me.

Here we have the embossed vellum that was already orange in colour. Shiny this side, flat colour the other side.

The flowers are MFT Scribble Roses Die, first time used and I LOVE IT. I die cut in gold mirror card stock and again with a piece of watercolour paper that I had coloured lightly using my Inktense pencils. Once all the colour was added I brushed over with a wet brush to blend the colours very slightly and bring out the vibrancy in them. If you have never used Inktense pencils, they are amazing, can go on in a rather subdued colour and when water is added they are so vibrant.

I laid the 3 dies across the coloured paper rather than straight down so I got a bit of every colour. I added the double sided tape to the back of the gold rose outline so that it would be held in place on the vellum and I could also add the negative cuts of coloured card stock back in. I used some leaves from another stamp set and felt they fit in quite nicely.

finished off with the Penny Black 'with love' die cut sentiment.
I absolutely love the vibrancy of this card.

My three rose card with orange vellum for this challenge.

The first card using heat embossing and distress inks.

Dare to be Creative and I Love You.

Posting two cards today.

This one is done using another wonderful Stamping Bella stamp. Elephants, so easy to colour.

I used grey copics C1, C3 and C5 and a pale skin pink and some of my YG greens for the grass. R17 and 35 and then Glossy Accents for the hears. Lucky for me the 'I love you' sentiment is crooked in design so no matter how I stamp or where it looks perfect.

I Die cut using my NEW  Pretty Pink Posh Scallop Die Cuts that I have wanted for ever so I went mad and bought in rectangle and circle and half circle and I love them.
I cut the image out using the die then the plaid patterned paper then placed the image back into the frame. Perfect. Finished off with my red heart gems.

Ideal for saying' I love you' to someone, or a birthday or mothers day - yet to be decided.

Next I finally started colouring in these birds. I LOVE THEM. they are just so

quirky. So many ideas come to my mind and with my wide collection of smarty/cheeky sentiments I feel they will get a good workout.

For todays card I just stamped two up the right way and one upside down. If I had it to do again I would maybe move the bird thats upside down across as thats a deadly place to be considering birds do like to just drop a pooh whenever.
All silliness aside I coloured with copics and my blending went okay. Its funny on the blue/purple bird the line is much more obvious than I realised so I will need to work on that, I do like the soft blend.

This was a really simple card to put together and because of the upside down bird I decided I needed a creative sentiment and after going through nearly all I found I really liked this one 'dare to be creative' and doesn't it link well right down to that little line under the 'tic' part of the word.

Finished the card off with the leaf I borrowed from a Flower stamp set from Happy Little Stampers and a mix of sequins. Notice I am getting a little more adventurous with the sequins and using more often. Having purchased some more and been given some by some wonderful crafting friends from overseas. I do especially love those teeny tiny ones that include stars and other shapes.

Happy Birthday card for the Muse Challenge

Another of those occasions where its two hours to closing so I had best get this card linked up.
I have made this after being inspired by the Muse Challenge

This is the beautiful inspiration card done by Jenni Murray. And the card I have posted was my immediate idea just had to find the time to do the die cutting I wanted to do.

I have used a white cardstock that has a weave to it. I then  decided on my flower die and cut a pile of pink flowers, white flowers and one lot of white shimmer papers. Here is where I changed my mind for this card.
At first I was just going to use the outlines of the flowers layered up loosely but I changed to using the shimmer white outline and replaced the pink petals, I then added more tape t the back of the flower to allow me to add the shimmer petals for in-between each petal.

I added a large clear shimmery gem. Before I added the flower I added embossed lines with my Scorpal three above and three below.

Attached the flower and then used the Misti so I could stamp the 'Happy Birthday' which had to be done 4 times before it was well covered.

As I went to take photos I found the........dreaded black fingerprint up in the top left of the card, back to the craft room to trim off a bit more card. Luckily it still looks balanced and fingerprint free.

Ready to link it up, Thanks Jenni fir the great inspiration.

Would also like to link to Seize the Birthday as its an Anything Goes week and a Birthday card
