Enjoying Watercolouring, Three Cards

This is a fair size post as I have done three cards. Enjoy

This first card I did with the Addicted to CAS Challenge in mind. This weeks challenge is petals so I had a bit of a play with the stamp. This stamp is from Inspired to Stamp and is new to me. It comes with the main small bunch of flowers and a single petal. I stamped the main bunch then added the single one, but covered one of the petals on it to infer that that petal has fallen.

I then stamped the single flower falling and two single petals this time covering the other three petals and only stamping the one. A bit of the line didn't stamp so I drew with the versa emboss pen to add it back in. All the stamping was white embossed.
I watercoloured with Zigs and got a lovely pink/orange mix but kept fiddling around and ended up with quite a dark flower. Too late to do it again so will use this one and continue on my quest for soft colours.
I finished the card off with the 'Awesome' gold foil cardstock die  cut and then decided to add the stamped sentiment 'you are'. You have already guessed haven't you, it was not a clear stamp so hard to judge and ended up crooked. My fix was to stamp again onto the same watercolour cardstock and cut as a little banner.

This stamps is another from 'Inspired to Stamp'. I have combined two separate stamps to make a cluster and I love how it turned out. Again stamped and white embossed and zig watercolours.

I haven't added any Wink of Stella but will do so later. Just forgot before I took the photo.
Finished the card off with the 'congrats' which is from silver mirror cardstock and die cut. All finished off with some randomly placed sequins.

Now the final card for tonight  is the W9Plus birds stamped and clear embossed as I like the control for watercolouring.

My birds are a very unique rainbow coloured species that like hanging out with my rainbow coloured flowers in my imaginary perfect garden. There is a very strong theme at the moment for making a scene on your card so I thought I would do that. Here we have the family at home which is up on the branch.

Their getting a bit skittish as mum is late with dinner and has rocked up with a french fry and they were rather looking forward to worm burgers. Mum can never work out these teenagers, so thats why she's standing there with leaves dropping down all around her and yelling out 'what? Whats up???'

So there you go, have I set the scene for you?.

Right now for challenges:

Bird card of course

Frangipani the first card is definitely a summer garden item.

Love my DAD

I've made two cards, just have to decide which one to give dad, the red or the blue. Theres plenty of time to decide because in Australia its not Fathers Day till September.
Coloured with Copics, these are digital images from Tiddy Inks and this is the first time I have inked them up. Don't know why, cause they really are nice and colour up perfectly. I'm particularly pleased with the colouring of the tyres that I have managed to emphasise the light on the tires and the metal of the rims.

I decided to cut the panel slightly smaller than the card front so I could put a layer of patterned paper on the card base. I tried to pick paper that was representative of the cars time line. So the red paper is a distressed look.

This paper is old palings on a fence. This type of truck on the farm in Australia is called a Ute, great for carting the family around and loading feed or hay in the back. If you look closely

at the old farm truck you can see what was called the running boards along under where the doors open. This meant you had a step down to get out of the truck and a step up to get into the truck or to get to stuff in the back of the ute. I used this because my dad has dementia and most of what he talks about now is from his past and days on the farmers a child/young man.

One story he loves to tell me is that he always got sick in the truck (car sickness) so when they went into town from the farm his dad would let him stand on the running board, holding on for dear life to the window post, as they went over the rough tracks and pot holes into town. The rest of the family were all crammed into the truck and the back of the truck, excited about their visit to town.
I look at photos of my dad, who was a little tyke and I'm amazed he managed to hang on as they made their way to town.
I'm hoping this will bring a smile to his face.

With Love Purple Petals

Today I was playing with my new floral stamps from The Ton stamped and white embossed onto multimedia paper. I haven't used this before and wanted to see what it was like. Brilliant with the Zigs. The biggest problem is that its been raining solid for a few days now so the light is not good so the photos do not show the card off as well as they should but cant be helped.

I used one of the light purple's in the Zigs and just added in layers. Added a little dark yellow to the centre of the flower. Couple of different greens for the leaves and a very light wash around the flowers. Then of course I added Wink of Stella to the petals - ohhh happy dayyyyss.

Decided to add a bit of bling so added a strip of silver glitter paper on the side, three silver gems and the 'with love' sentiment and I am finished. Now to go try the gold embossed one and the silver embossed and the copic..........

Happy Birthday Beautiful Butterfly on Kraft

I've used the Hero Art butterfly here. I stamped and white embossed straight onto the kraft cardstock. I have coloured in with Coloursoft pencils staying with reds and oranges and assed a bit of black for depth around the outside of the wings.
I added white dots then decided I didnt like them so I went back over them with the pencils each the one set of three in each area. Much happier. Added a butterfly body from a die cut butterfly set as it fits perfectly.

I stamped and white embossed the sentiment (after first checking it was straight with black ink on a scrap of paper then off stamped till I thought it was nearly clean then idiot brain kicked in and I used my versamark ink pad thinking I will ink up and stamp off till its clear and lets not think about the ink pad for at least 4 times could a person be so stupid. Yes she could lol ahh well we can but learn)

Anyway finally stamped the sentiment and embossed in white and finished off the whole thing with a few wee red gems and added Wink of Stella to the wings and they have a wonderful shimmer but it doesn't show up in the photos.. Nice, clean and simple.

I have gone without the topping for this card.

Thank you for coming to visit and I hope you come again soon.

Ohhh my Goodness

I was inspired for the Less is More Challenge Sketch
and like a lot of my cards they come to me just towards the last minute. Another of those times I was just about to go to bed and thought when does that challenge end 'oops' I will miss it. So being a true martyr I stayed up to make a card.

I was looking through my pre stamped and printed up images for a bit of inspiration and came across

this cutie. I had manipulated the image in Adobe Illustrator so that she was peering around the corner (not my idea, I saw this wonderful idea on Lostinpaper where Therese actually did hers with the rubber stamp version (mine was digital). And I just went to get the link and nearly died (I had in some subconscious  way picked the similar colours for dress and trim yet I have not seen this since March.

After colouring her I sat pondering what to do for the 'oh my goodness' and remembered I had a stencil Tim Holtz 'Broken Glass' perfect for this. I penciled in a line then taped down the stencil and did the blending with 'tumbled glass'. It got a bit dark around near the hole but it was harder to get the little bits to show and actually I liked the look.

Inside of the card is still to be decided on. I finished it off with a silver strip to show the window trim. To be honest I really like the way this turned out and am so pleased that Therese's inspiration gave me something to work with.

Love You using Faux Mother of Pearl Papers

I saw the challenge at CAS(E) this sketch #174!

and as with many of my cards a LMC popped into my head and this is what I came up with.

I had some white card scraps that I had done the Faux Mother of Pearl technique on.
I have attached a link to Loll's video as its so easy to follow and I reckon she's the queen of Faux Mother of Pearl.(Loll Thompson) . If you are looking and thinking this is strange pearl look yes I did pearl on some but also decided to try with gold (Silks Paint) for contrast.

If you click on the image to enbiggen you will see how beautiful this piece of card stock is.
Anyhoo I die cut twice once from this scrap of coloured cardstock and once from a glossy purple paper. Originally I stuck down the purple outline of the heart and then put all the Faux pieces back in place but I wasn't happy with the finished look.
Then I held the original die cut heart in place and really liked what I saw so I glued it in place and it sits just slightly higher.

The big heart is to represent the big star and I wanted small hearts and was going to stamp all around with different heart sizes and designs then remembered my other heart die that is full of little hearts and there was just enough space left on the scrap piece to cut nearly all the little hearts.
I played around for a while till I was happy with the scattering and colours and still had over a dozen hearts left (for another time). I then glued them all down. Looked at lots of sentiments but felt this one 'love you' die cut was the best. It just flowed across the hearts and Elysha proclaimed it 'Bwful' in correct english thats Beautiful. So that was good enough for me.
