Party Time & Happy Birthday

Two cards in this post. I wanted to have a go at a sketch
I liked the look of.

Beautiful Sketch, nice and uncomplicated.

This was my first attempt then I realised that no I have gone away from the sketch by doing a double layer so decided to use for another challenge that also looked great. Not a sketch but Pastel colours.
Isn't she a cutie with all her presents wrapped up in rainbow colours but
soft rainbow colours and her little friend just finishes her off perfectly.

I cut the single tag but felt it was too plain and cut a slightly bigger tag
out of cupcake paper. Added a bit of sparkle to the presents and
a clear sparkly gem on top. Finished off with the silver sparkle
paper die cut words 'Party Time'.

This next card is also rainbow colours but the vibrant rainbow this time.

I took a piece of watercolour paper and coloured in with a couple of
oranges going into yellows with my Inktense Pencils then used a broad brush with water
to blend the colours into a nice smooth transition. This paper when dry I cut with the
stitched tag die.

The balloons and present areal coloured with copics. I worked out where I wanted
the balloons to go and I used just the string stamp to add some strings for the balloons.
I then attached the balloons to the tag with dimensional foam to add a bit of angle and lift
to the balloons. The present is stuck on flat.

Added the tag to the card base and then the silver glitter paper
die cut 'Happy Birthday' words.

This one works for the Freshly Made Sketches #256 by Jen.T so will enter that challenge.

I would also like to enter

Happy Birthday Card.

Happy birthday Rainbow Card.

The card Party Time going with the
topping and 3rd card.

The Card Party Time is for this challenge.

The Card Party Time, the back tag is pattern paper.

Thank you so much for coming to visit and I hope you come again soon.

It's the Twins Birthday

Aaron and Elysha turn 24 today. Its amazing to think 24 years have gone past and so
many things have changed in our lives.I think its time they moved out but this generation truly have us worked out. Lucky I love them so much. As the others all glare and pout over the things they get away with..... you made us blah blah blah. Yeah I know kids I love you all but it comes down to its always easier when there are only two and well I cant image having an empty nest just yet.

Better get back to track here. This is the card I have made for to day for Aaron. Nothing too stroppy or tizzy being a boy. I have been buying boy stamps but not 24 year old stamp appropriate so I decided he would love this one. He's keen to have a dog (told him he has to leave to have one) so always showing me cute little puppies.
This is one I got in a set from Gerda Steiner Stamps (currently sold out but will be back soon). Fantastic set and glad I have finally started using the stamps.

stamped and Copic coloured, added a bit of texture with colourless blender on a scrap of towel but its not really showing here. Added some grass under his feet and stamped the sentiment with a multi colour stamp pad in greens. Then decided to add a strip of copic coloured Yupo  synthetic paper. This stuff is amazing and I have found it reasonably cheap on Ebay lately if you are interested. Its fantastic as its so smooth, hard to explain but fantastic for use with alcohol inks.

So cut a strip and played it alongside the coloured image. Finished off with a sweet little green bone covered in glitter. and .....and.... finally a watermark, just have to learn to use it, curtesy of Viv who also designed my blog header.

Here I am sharing the card Elysha wanted badly for me to give to her as she loves rainbows. Made this a week or so ago.

Thank you so much for coming to have a look at my cards
and I hope you come again soon.

OOPS almost forgot.....
Don't forget our new challenge blog
October.

Hope we see you there.

Muse Guest Designer

I cant believe I kept this under my hat till now. I wanted to blurt it to the world. What an honour to be asked to be Guest Designer. I have to admit to the funny tummy
flip flop when I got Ardyth's email and had to read it twice to be sure.

Alright I have to admit to one of my classic blonde moments, I then wrote back so excited and said and what do you want me to do for my card. As I was fiddling around doing things and waiting for Ardyth's reply so I would know what they wanted, the penny dropped.
Ohhh dear, yes My Card, My Inspiration. I hope Ardith didn't laugh too much.
Anyway its time to get a card done and thank you ladies for giving me such a wonderful chance. To be Guest Designer for Muse for a Week.

I decided to go with my favourite type of card, which is flowers and Copics.  I received these wonderful flower stamps on Thursday from MFT (My Favorite Things) and couldn't wait to use them. They are called Funky Flowers
I have stamped in black, using a bit of masking and coloured with Copics.

I love the stitched pattern on the flowers and cant wait to
try them white embossed with watercolours.
I have taken a closeup shot so you can see the sparkle from  the Wink of Stella
added to the flower petals.

I finished the card off with a few sequins and a die cut hello. The hello
die is from Avery Elle (I was unable to find in their store and may have been discontinued).

I can't wait to see how you are inspired by my card. Will it be the colours, the flowers, the masking and flowers.Whatever it is and I'm  looking forward to visiting your blogs this week to see how you've 'cased' it.

Now its time to go to the
Muse Challenge blog to play along.

Aloha & Have a Beautiful Birthday

I think if the Muse Challenge handed out awards for last minute I would win hands
down  in most instances. Again had an idea but got distracted, sidelined
and finally made it. No its not this card, this card was a spur of the
moment idea and it all fell into place so well I thought I would post it at the same time.

This beautiful bright card is to celebrate Spring which is here, most days and already
hinting at a hot Summer. Thats when its not pouring with rain.

Anyway back to this little beauty, isn't she the sweetest looking little girl. Click on
her to enlarge the image and see the sweet little smile she has. From a distance she
looks more serious but up close the smile is there. She is coloured with
Copics and finished off with a wee bit of 'Wink of Stella' Forgot to say she is
another of mt collection of Mo's Digital Pencil and this is the first time I have coloured her up.

I just realised I forgot to trim out the blue sky between her legs, will have to fix that.
I have fussy cut her, added this wonderful shiny textured floral patterned paper
to the base of the card. Then added the girl on dimensional foam for a bit of lift
then finished by stamping 'Aloha' sentiment, die cutting a speech bubble that
Then reduced in size slightly.

My next card was inspired by
Jenni Murray
Beautiful isn't it. I love it. I was inspired to try a layered stamp. The blue panel in-between the stamped image and the card base and the small sentiment.

So I started on my idea.
I have a few layer stamps, this one is one of the Atlenew Stamp sets.
I have not had much luck with it but was happier today, till I did the leaves.
Then it was ruined. The leaves looked so wrong.
This was already my 4th try as I didnt like the colours of others.

I decided to fussy cut the flower, added a pale blue vellum, re-stamped the
 leaves hen fussy cut them.

I cute vellum so it was half an inch longer than the card front, used my
emboss tool to put a fold at that 1/2" then attached with double sided tape
over the back of the card. Stamped the sentiment with Stazon black ink
to make sure it stayed on and dried then added the flower and leaves
with dimension foam tape.
The flower has a very nice coating of Wink of Stella but doesn't show up
here. I did take a close up but it changed the colour of the flower so haven't uploaded.

I did this flower only using 2 inks and double stamped each colour for the different layers.

THINGS ARE GONNA GET BETTER

I recently purchased the cutest little dragons, prince and princess stamp set from
MFT (My Favourite Thing) and when I was stamping the characters onto the masking tape
I just feel in love with this little character. His face is so expressive.
I stamped him onto the front of the card, coloured just with greens
this time. Time to play latter, I had an idea. So coloured with greens
then masked. I sprayed repositional glue on the Tim Holtz

broken glass stencil and placed it over the top of the masked
dragon. I blended with 'Tumbled Glass' Distress ink and just faded out
as I went rather than do the whole front.

When I peeled back the stencil, you need to remember to go gently cause
it can grab hold of the card and tear little bits off. The spray is fantastic to stop
movement of the stencil and also prevent anything going under then stencil and when its
a really fine stencil like this one if its not stuck down its very easy to catch the strands
and colour under them.
The card is finished off with this sentiment ' Things are gonna get better' - perfect
for this card. I think I need and 'Oooops' one as well.
It turned out just how I wanted.

This next card was a quick one. I printed out the jug and flowers which
are images from Power Poppy. Love their stamps but sometimes
I want it digital so I can control the size. Here I have only printed it out in a
smaller size.

Coloured with Copics yellows, purples and green. The jug is in very pale
blue/green colours.

Cut the image out with my wonky stitched square die second size down.
Used this yellow and white patterned paper and added the 'with love' sentiment, a few
clear drops on the petals and one yellow sparkly up in the corner.

Perfect for a birthday coming up.

Challenges:

With Love card -without using the
 Topping.

I think my cute dragon fits the critters.

My dragon with his wonderful sentiment.

I'm hoping my dragon card is CAS enough.

Thank you so much for coming to visit and I hope you come again soon.

I had an idea and I thought I would share.

I started my blog, Colour and Sparkle, 18 months ago and it still feels so new. I cant
believe that this next step is happening.

I had an idea, it was to start a blog where the challenges are
 all about flower/florals.
I then approached a few people, people I knew shared my love for using
flower/floral stamps, digital images, stencils & dies.

I asked if they would like to join me in the adventure of starting a Flower Challenge.
I am so amazed that everyone I approached said yes to either being on the
Design Team or being future Guest Designers.

I had to stop asking, we had reached top numbers before I  knew it.

I am so honoured to say we are starting this challenge
with 9 members in the Design Team.

We have just launched the The Flower Challenge blog.
Our first monthly challenge will begin on October the 4th.
The Design Team that has come together  share a wonderful wide range of styles.
The blog is still having a few little tweaks so everything isn't live yet but
the blog itself is there ready to go.

We hope you'll come by again on October 4th
to see the first challenge and join us in all the fun.

I cant wait to see you all there.

Best Wishes on your Birthday

I didnt realise until I went to post the photos that my cards are all at weird angles but its too late I have already posted the card. I have used another of 'The Tons' wonderful flower stamps 'Happiest of Peonies'. I have stamped and heat embossed in gold.

Watercoloured with Zigs and lots of water to give highlights and shadow.
I then cut with this wonderful rounded corner stitch rectangle die from Gina Maria Design. Let me be clear here I do not get paid to advertise products and I have not been given any products nor asked to endorse them but when I use something I really like I am happy to share. To be able to get a set of rectangle stitched dies for $10 is a pure bargain. Go check em out.

After cutting the watercolour paper out with the stitched die I then cut the pink card stock in the same way so I could just place the watercolour back in place, a flat one layer card. I know it all looks rather red but its more a vibrant pink looks brilliant irl. Finished off with the 'best wishes' die cut and a few gold sequins (gold and pink/gold).
Love how this stamp looks, still have so many to use.
