Thank You and Smile

Posts will continue to be a bit here and there for me as life is throwing some hurdles at us so please stay with me.

This first card is me trying to do more Sketches. I really want to become more relaxed with Sketches  and look at what I have  on hand. In this instance I looked at this Sketch
and this is what I have come up with.  I have used what I am pretty sure is a Hero Art background stamped and white heat embossed on watercolour  cardstock and then watercoloured with zigs, blues and purples and lots of water.

I then cut a piece of 1 3/4 inch strip to go down the length of the card. I was then going to add a
strip of 1/2 inch purple foil paper but thought it looked too plain so decided to use a die I had.

This die is part of a set of four from Papertrey and they are all border trim and food related.
I haven't used them till now (one of those purchases you make then wonder why, why did I buy this???). Well I die cut in the purple foil and it kind of worked but still lacked so I did another in white which I then added distress ink to and made a mess of. So then I added Distress Ink to
a strip of white card stock, sprayed with pearlised water then die cut and added to the card front.

I liked it better. It has a nice shimmer and the purple is really a wonderful purple but looks black here, you can see up the top of the photo in the closeup shot the true colour. I finished the card off with a Thank you sentiment from Penny Black.
I think it reaches the criteria, its growing on me and makes a nice thank you card.

This card I am in love with, everything about it works for me. Another Sketch this time

I just wanted to say I also won last weeks sketch which was so neat. I went to check out the new challenge and there was my card, one of the winners, boy what a nice feeling that is.

The bottom layer is a panel I stamped and white embossed on watercolour paper then added Distress Ink colours to. I will have to think on the brand name for this stamped will chase up if anyone wants to know.  I cut a strip of this panel and added to the bottom of the card.

I then used a border die to cut the white layer with the scallop look as I don't have any dies that do the look as shown in the sketch and I noticed everyone had done their own interpretations.

I added the white layer with fun foam underneath so it would sit slightly higher than
the coloured panel.

I stamped and white embossed a few of the small flowers from the Ellen Hudson Hydrangea Flower Stamp on watercolour paper. I watercoloured with zigs and then die cut them. I die cut a leaf from another flower set and watercoloured it. I then played around till I was happy with the design and finished it off with one little flower falling onto the patterned panel and added the 'smile' die cut sentiment from 'HoneyBee stamps'.

I really love how this turned out and think I will do some more in similar designs, maybe different colours.

Challenges:

A resolution I have made to myself this year is to use up what I have
bought and not buy till it is all used and used well. So in this instance its the
first card and the die cut that looks like piped cream and had not been
used since purchase.

First card as the Papertrey die cut has not been used since purchased so new to me.

The smile card, liquid colours for the flowers
used zigs and water. Stamped, white heat embossed,
blending, die cuts. Hope its CAS enough.

Smile card

Thank you so much for coming to visit and I hope you come again soon.

Two quite different in their styles but equally gorgeous cards, Aileen! The purple and blue combo on the first card is so pretty! And the take on the CTS sketch looks like another win for me!

Happy New Year, and I truly hope life settles down a bit for you in the next weeks. I love BOTH of these cards, and I think you've done marvelously on each sketch. Good for you, I should do more sketches, instead of winging it. I love the look of #1 and especially the way you've done the sentiment, with that intricate focal point. Loved the double border designs too. #2 is a knockout though, loved the brilliant colors and the scallop treatment with the gorgeous floral bouquet. Congratulations on your win, and easy to see why you were a winner with this beauty. TFS & Take care.

Two very colorful and beautiful cards, Aileen. I love how you colored in the background stamp and the colors you used. I love that scalloped edge die and dropping a flower into the lower panel was a nod to ingenuity.

Love especially that second card. Of course what draws me in are those gorgeous colors! I am not a big fan of sketches either - too restrictive....
