CASEing Genius Challenge

Over on Kelly Latevola's blog You and Your Big Dreams, she is celebrating one year of CASEing other card making geniuses. Its always wonderful to see who she has chosen, checking out their cards and then seeing her interpretation of their cards. So she organised a Challenge:
Here's the Requirements:

Create a new project CASEing one of the Geniuses cards from their original post below and link to their blog
Nominate someone you love to be a Genius and link to their blog
Link back to this post to help others enjoy the challenge too.
Add your card to the Inlinkz below.
Have fun. Leave each other encouragement. Make it your own.
***If you are a previous Genius please feel free to join in and CASE another Genius**

Please choose a Genius to CASE for your challenge entry. You may CASE more than one Genius but each CASE must be a new project and a seperate entry.

Okay so after going through all the wonderful Geniuses I had to choose, I narrowed it down to six. Six brilliant ones that I felt maybe I could have a go at but which one. The more I procrastinated the harder it got then of course time ran out. Last night I am looking again and its 16 hours so its now or never.

I decided to go with:

Lydia is unbelievable, I totally love her style and of course have become a follower of her blog. You have to check it out, so many wonderful, beautiful projects.

This is the card I have CASEd, or at least tried to. Mine is not as CAS as Lydia's.

This is the first time I have done a number of things that are on this card so I am pretty happy with it but since I left myself so little time to do it in I was unable to try out the technique first and get an idea on what to do so what you see is first attempt.

I loved the idea of trying copics and then going over the top with pencil for a bit of detail. My going back and stamping and embossing with gold was a bit hit and miss as I found late at night trying to line up stamp to image could be a bit difficult. But it was okay.
Before I embossed the images I had stamped in Tumbled Glass Distress Ink and once the colouring was done I loved the look. I have not done this before with copics and totally loved the look and plan to try again. In this instance because I had done so many blue flowers they tended to loose their individuality and needed the gold embossing but of the leave looked brilliant.

After I had coloured the flowers in with copics I went back with my Coloursoft blue pencil and etched in some soft lines.

Then I added flicks of gold paint.....mmmm maybe a little too much but first time, who knows when to stop. Added a panel of blue card stock that has a wonderful shimmery speckle through it.
Gold die cut 'Congrats' and to finish off some clear sequins I got from the dollar shop. All done.

When I look at Lydia's card and mine together I think not so good but for a first time I am happy.

Who would I like to see CASEd by Kelly, well its a never ending list but today I would like to nominate:
Julia who has the blog Just One More Card
Unbelievable colouring skills and sensational cards.

Okay I better gets linked up over at

Thank you very much for coming to have a look and I hope you come again soon.

(Ruth -all done and five hours to spare.)
