NBUS Flower with a Pop of Colour

If you read my last post you know I did a black and white with a pop of colour butterfly. After I finished colouring the butterfly last night I still wanted to try the same idea with flowers but rather than go with some of my ornate flower stamps I wanted an easy one.

The butterfly I coloured comes with this outline flower that also has a fantastic inset stamp thats all busy with wee little designs, but that will need to be used another time.

This time I decided to just use the outline stamp and admit this stamp has been sadly neglected. It is not new but had never been inked up. That of course will be
fixed now as its beautiful to colour.

I am totally in love with the grey copic colouring and the depth I feel I achieved here.
I was going to go pop of colour green again but decided on yellow instead.

I started out with Y02, Y06, Y08 and Y17 but wasn't happy with the depth, something was missing. So I added another colour into the mix and left out Y02. I added YR14 which gives that brilliant orange burst on tips and coming from the centre. I added a wee bit of brown to the centre for depth and to separate from inner petals then a bit of white gel pen for light in centre of both coloured and grey flowers for highlight.
Finished off with Wink of Stella on the coloured flower only and then added a few enamel dots within that pop of colour to finish it off. I am planning to give this to a friend for her birthday and have stamped inside. I hope you like it.

As its a Hero Art stamp I will also enter this into A blog Named Hero Challenge with my Pop of Colour. So even though I am only just getting an entry in I have managed two so happy with that.

Would also like to enter this in HLS August CAS Challenge which is masking as there was plenty of that and I think its CAS enough.
Of course I want to enter this at Darnell's NBUS Challenge #7. This is a brilliant challenge that Darnell runs at different times and the main rule is to use your NBUS (Never Before Used Stuff) and I think its brilliant. How many people out there have stamps, dies, papers they have purchased then not used. Some of us (myself here) are willing to admit we have a trailer load or two of schtuff that meets this criteria so its perfect. This stamp meets the criteria of never used before. So thats one.

Love entering Seize the Birthday as they take anything birthday and then add twists, but you can do either twist or just birthday. This card is without the twist, which is tags.

Thank you so much for coming along

Not only are you going to be using this stamp again, but I think you prolly sold a lot of it by doing this spectacular card, Aileen! It is so pretty in yellow, of course, but I think it is utterly fantastic the way you have colored it in the shaded gray and white! Thank you for the shoutout and for playing in my NBUS Challenge #7! Hugs, Darnell

The dimension you get on these flowers is amazing - and the way the orange stands out is perfect. I love the bright tips of the flowers. I haven't been crafting that long and I have quite a bit of NBUS too. Need to post this week as well! Xx

Hey Aileen, just popping over to see this in more detail from Darnell's blog! She is right, I bet they have now sold out of this stamp, it is such a beautiful card too. Those colours! And the dimension you got on the petals is fabulous. I have been using my NBUS over the past few months, and still have loads to use, so Darnell's challenge is perfect. Speak soon, Lisa xx
