Happy Mothers Day

This is a photo heavy post but you can just go down to the third one of the card and finish there if you like. The other is an extension of my post.
If you have come to check out the JUGS Challenge its the next post down.

Now onto my card.

This is a digital image from Saturated Canary and I've had it for ages. I decided it was perfect for my grandson to give his mummy tomorrow. I had already done one for his sister to give her mum but when I looked at this one I thought ' ahhh perfect' she will get the humour.

Only lightly coloured with copics as it wasn't copic cardstock I printed it on and I didn't want to have the ink spreading. Don't you just love her, like every mum out there. Multi multi tasking.

After colouring I added Glossy accents to the bottle, dummy and the mum's eyes. Thought of glossing up the spillage/up chuck but decided not to get too realistic.

Felt she looked a bit plain so decided to keep trying to use my washi tapes. Two floral ones to represent the flowers for the day, I like what I see but does it work? Too much? Too different?
Finished it all off with an enamel heart up the top.

Challenge:

Made a card for my grandson to give him mum for mothers day

Thank you so much for coming to visit. I hope you come again soon

Mum's Birthday

Now for those who like to listen to me chat. Today is special it's my mum's birthday. Mum is 85 today and I actually don't get to see her today as this is my sisters week with mum and dad. My daughter Jessie went over this morning to give her a big bunch of flowers and my brothers took her out this arvo for a chocolate afternoon tea as a place that specialises in all things chocolate. We got them to eat light for lunch to leave room for the chocolate feast.

Now to share a couple of photos of my wonderful amazing mother, who was there for me for so much heart ache, sorrow and joy. I know I am lucky to have the best mum ever for the last 57 years and now we take it day by day.

Mum and her twin sister Pat at 16 then a publicity shot at 18 as they were amongst the first 'Toni Twins' in Australia.
The photo with both sets of twins as they flew around Australia and mum and one of the other twins being walked into the ballroom.
They were 'Toni Twins' which was a home perm that you could buy at the Chemist and when it went to TV you would be asked which twin has the Toni.
They of course were before TV so they would walk into a room like walking ads!!
It was just for a year but it was like the most exciting and amazing thing that could ever happen as far as they were concerned.
They lead a very hard life and brought up their younger sisters from age 14 being the only breadwinners. I loved when I could hear their stories on life.
Through all they went through they are four sisters that have never fought and talk to each other every week no matter what.

This is a picture of mum and Pat 5 years ago. I was going to
post a recent one of them both, but its not a good one
so I thought I'll leave that till next time.

Fabulous card. Simply perfect. Happy 85th Birthday to your Mum. Super post. Always like other peoples stories from back in the day. What an adventure the twins had. Great photos. So If my calculations are right the last photos of the twins was when they were 80 years young! Seriously looking good.
Have a great day, Flo x

Adorable card, Aileen! I really enjoyed reading your post & seeing the pictures. Happy Birthday to your sweet mom! Missing mine this Mother's Day, but grateful I had her love & support until I was 40.

No 1 I love your card - it is so true about motherhood - although with me it was permanent baby attached to breast for much of the night for about 11 months, trying to deal with energetic 3 year old as well. Wouldn't change it for the world! No 2 - your mum is a shining star. I love hearing about your family and I'm going to have to do a bit of research on Toni Twins :) I love the flower Washi by the way :) xx
