It was my birthday last month and I received some fantastic cards from some fantastic friends in blog land. One of those cards is this one here from Therese from LostinPaper a fellow Aussie. If you have never been to her blog go check it out, she makes the most amazing cards and videos as is obvious with this card here. Who would think to stamp and colour onto pattern paper. I love it. I spend so much time looking at Therese's cards and adding them to my to do list then when I got the card in the mail it was like..... well here I am in front of you... do it. Then a challenge came up asking for us to use pattern paper..... what could be better.
Now don't go to Therese's and not come back.
Isn't this amazing with the Penny Black mouse.
Now we need to look at mine.
I'm still learning with these pencils and was probably a bit heavy handed but
I'm getting there. This was with Polychrome Pencils and used each colour to blend
the next rather than any blending solution.
As you can see up close I stamped my first bear a bit crooked but didn't notice
till I had finished colouring. Too late to start again.
I love the look, so simple to do and finished off with the Happy Birthday
die cut sentiment cut once in black and once in white fun foam.
Thank you so much for this wonderful inspiration Therese.

I love this effect. When I first started reading your post I thought how on earth is this going to work, surely you will see the design paper through the colouring but gosh it looks great. Happy belated Birthday. Hugs Mrs A.
Smashing! I pinned it, as I really want to remember to do this fun and colorful card sometime. I love the patterned papers that you choose and the fun bear peeking out of the gift box. Too adorable. Thanks so much for joining us at Seize the Birthday. I know that we will see you again. Keep them coming.

Oh, and Happy Belated Birthday.

What a fabulous birthday card, and I love your CASE of it. With the Bears being randomly placed you don't see one as being crooked, it looks intentional. Great job with the pencils, must play with mine to get up to your standard x
Adorable! I love stamping directly onto patterned paper and coloring. Great take on the CAS-ual Fridays Patterned Paper Challenge, thanks for joining us. Lisa~DT
I saw that video and the card - it was amazing! I'm so glad she sent it to you. I think it's perfect. Your coloured pencil work is really nice - you get good contrast even on the patterned paper. I found it tricky when I tried to do it myself. Will share in due course! Well done and enjoy your gorgeous card! Xx
Your card is so cheerful and fun Aileen, great choice of paper and stamp too, i don't think that you were too 'heavy handed' at all. Thanks so much for the lovely thoughts and words my friend x
Lovely card! You colored it brilliantly!
How special to get one of Therese's cards. Your card is a great CASe of Therese's card. I think your colouring is fabulous.
I saw the Therese tutorial, but your card, Aileen, encouraged me to do a similar card. Your cards look like a million dollars :-)) I have to try it!
Hugs,
