You make me smile

I love this type of style, should have done it before.
My inspiration is Joyce Mehrberg and boy has she inspired me.

Isn't this card stunning. As my first foray into this style I have used a Penny Black stamp that I recently got (thank you for that inspiration Therese).

This stamp is just stunning and my first time using it I have stamped with Memento Black Ink then die cut a square out. The square that was cut out has been coloured with copics.

The coloured panel has been added back into the original large stamped piece but with some fun foam behind it to add a bit of lift to the panel.
I have then stamped 'you make me' into the tag section of the stamp and added the die cut 'smile' that I die cut twice, the second time in gold mirror cardstock.

So many more possibilities, I hope to add a couple more cards to this challenge from Happy Little Stampers as it runs for the month and I really love this look.

Ok off to add to

Okay thank you very much for coming to visit and I hope you come again soon.

PS
Does anyone out there have this die

If you do, have you been able to use it okay or do you need to go in and trim pieces apart. I only recently got this die and it just doesn't do a clean cut. I have done cardstock down to thin paper and it will not cut clean. I have used extra cardstock on top of the cut piece and added layers of card and paper to add pressure on the plates.

Nearly couldn't turn the handle the pack was so tight, I don't have a metal shim to assist with cutting but have never needed it before. I only have the cuttlebug and wasted that much time and cardstock last night thought I would ask if anyone else is having this problem.

Thanks for your time spent reading this part. XX

What a beautiful card - I adore spotlight colouring on cards and this one is s stunner. Love the whole layout and your colouring is beautiful. Afraid I can't help with the die, but it may be that the steel edges aren't defined enough to get it to cut. It may be worth contacting the manufacturer. Memory Box are usually very reliable so I'm surprised. Sometimes I have to rotate the cardstock in my machine and cut it the other way to get a cleaner cut, but that is very rare. Xx

Gorgeous card. I'm hoping to join in with HLS too!
I have another company's die which is fine detail and I have trouble with it. I found if I use the metal plate it cuts much nicer. One go through and all the little bits are cut lovely. Best of luck.

STUNNING creation Aileen! I get frustrated when an intricate die won't cut. Sometimes I cut on wax paper first, and it helps put a coating on the die. It's more about the release, but you never know~(however, you may want to contact the manufacturer before altering it). I had a similar situation with Spellbinders and they sent me another.

Wow--your card is drop dead gorgeous. What a fantastic image you chose, and your coloring is perfect. The pop you get from your coloring contrasted with the delicate black and white really makes this card outstanding. So flattered to be CASEd by you, and thanks so much for playing along at HLS Case the Designer this month. As for your die--I don't have that one, but it seems like you have tried all the tricks. The only other thing I would suggest is to try flipping the die over and/or moving it to a different part of your cutting plate or rotating it. If none of those work, you may have received a bum die, and I would hope they could replace it. That has happened to me before, and a new die worked much better.

This is gorgeous, Aileen. I love that you offset the cut instead of centering it. I'm so glad you entered your card at ATSM this week.

Oh my goodness Aileen, this card is STUNNINGLY GORGEOUS!!!
The colored panel just jumps out of the picture, it's just amazing, what an absolutely lovely stamp and you really did a master piece here.
You've inspired me to give this challenge a try, so I'm going to work on this tomorrow.
Now, I'm sorry but I don't have this die but, since you've tried just about everything and still not giving you a clean cut, I think you should not delay anymore and contact the manufacturer or the place where you bought it so they can either replace it or refund your money. Don't wait to long, some companies have a 30 day limit to return merchandise.
Good luck, my friend.
Maria.

I hadn't tried this card design before either but its so much fun. Your card is so gorgeous and love the deep red against the black and white of your uncoloured flower. Its so frustrating when a die doesn't cut properly. I hope you find some answers to help it work better. Thank you so much for joining us at both ATSM and Happy Little Stampers this week!!

Loving the combination of the colours you've used to do the spot colouring. That stamp is gorgeous and your card stunning. No I don't own this particular die either but a phone call is looking like the next option x

Wow, your take on Joyce's card is stunning! Love the bold colors!
Sorry ,no I don't have that die. Did you try cutting with cut side up ,sometimes that helps. might be a bad die, but I use a metal shim some of the PTI dies wouldn't cut without it.

Your card is stunning. I love how the spotlight pops. I am sorry about your die, I do flip mine over and run it through my Big Shot at least 2-3 times on each side. It is frustrating when they don't work! Thank you for joining our fun at ABC Challenge. Good luck and please join us again!
