Merry Christmas & Party Time

Yes I've added two cards to this post. I miss nearly a week in posting
and now its lots of multi-card posts.

I just had to colour this stamp again. I love it and its so striking.

This version I have coloured with blue copics.

I finished off with lots of Wink of Stella but this was the best picture I could capture.
As you can see there is a nice sparkle there, so just imagine its all over the
flowers. I did a full die cut this time then decided to do another cut from blue vellum.

I did some additional cutting with the scalpel  in some areas where white was
still showing as I wanted the blue vellum to show through. I glued the blue
down then added the next layer slightly off line to make a shadow of blue.
Finished the card off with some pretty sparkly blue enamel dots and a die cut
of 'Party Time' from silver glitter paper.

For my next card its a start in the right direction for Christmas. I was over at Maria's
blog swimbkierunandstamp where she had just coloured a gorgeous little elf.
I had forgotten I had one similar so decided to colour mine and get moving on the Christmas
run.  I had been reminded that the collection of extra Christmas Cards has started. I want to get some cards done not just for family but for this fantastic idea The Caring Hearts Card Drive 2016
The link is for Australian stampers info but there is also a link there for Vera in America who started the whole idea and I think also the UK.
Its all about making a card, signing it and sending in for them to pass onto people in Nursing Homes who don't get mail. This way they get a card from a stranger but a stranger who cares, check it out. It really is worth it. And there are prizes involved. I made a few cards last year, this year I want to do much more. I love to stamp so enough talk and time to get into it.

This year with mum and dad getting prepared to go into a Nursing Home due to the quick pace of the Alzehimers mum has, has made me more aware than ever of not only the Nursing Home but the Retirement Village which is where they are now.
It has raised for me the fact that there are many elderly people out there who don't have visitors or family or friends letting them know they matter. There are so many old people out there that just like to know someone cares.  Stopping to share a five minute chat, a kiss on the cheek, a hug can make all the difference in day to day living.

So imagine getting a card from someone who cared enough to make the card and send their love to a stranger. Think of their joy.
Now the card, sorry I do get sidetracked sometimes.
This card is one layer and I coloured Mo's image with Coloursoft pencils and baby oil. then I added glue to the the area where the white fur was meant to be and added glitter, lots of glitter.

I love how the orange ball turned out with the colours blended with the baby oil.
Isn't she cute.

Now since she is hanging up side down I decided the Merry Christmas should be on an angle. I cut the word from silver mirror  cardstock. Still needed something then I realised she was just hanging there and I didnt want to add tree branches so decided she could be hanging from a star. The star is
cut from silver glitter paper and silver card stock.

One down and a million and one to go (where did I read that mmm-
think I did read that) Probably on all the card blogs where we are
all just starting to make cards.

Ooooh your blue flowers are so pretty (love that matching blue shadow) and she's such a sparkly cutie on your Christmas card!
I'm so sorry to hear your Mum has Alzheimer's, it's such a terrible thing to watch a loved one go through. The Caring Hearts drive is a great idea, I must look to see if it's run in Northern Ireland too xx

Hey my friend: WOW!! I love this sweet little Elf, swinging on this Christmas ornament, she is just adorable, love all the sparkle on her hair and I see you colored her with pencils and baby oil, one of my favorite ways to do my cards.
How sweet of you to tell your followers about my Little Elf Finn, thank you so much for that, my friend.
Your first card is gorgeous, love this flowers in this lovely shade of blue, the blue vellum layer gives this flowers a very striking depth.
I think the idea of sending cards to this organization to help this elderly and sick people receive some happy mail is fabulous, I'm going to find out about this organization here in the USA. and send them cards for them to give away. Having my mother, who has dementia, living here with us makes me wonder about all of those people in nursing homes that do not receive any visitors, it's so sad.
So thank you for that information Aileen, I'm going to start getting some cards done for them.
Big hugs, my friend.
Maria.

Your first card just "pops" with color. It looks like it is raised off of the page with the highlighting that you have done. Fabulous job. Thanks for joining us at Seize the Birthday this week.

Your flowers are lovely in blue; your elf, totally charming! The highlight of your post is the 'essence' of your second card: to share with those in senior residences. The majority of my cards, year round, go to the senior residence where my mom volunteers. They're either given to the residents (birthday, typically) or sold at the gift shop (not expensive at all), with proceeds going to my mom's Extended Hands volunteer group, who make purchases that will benefit the residents. Makes me happy to know that my cards are bringing smiles to people's faces...and you're right, there's a lot of lonely people in the world. Isn't it nice to know we're taking steps to change that. Your kind, compassionate, generous heart makes mine smile!
